Mercy Southeast’s new primary care walk-in clinic opened just in time for flu season
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Mercy Southeast’s new primary care walk-in clinic opened just in time for flu season.
The new walk-in clinic offers same day care for people over the age of one, who are unable to get in with their primary care providers.
Nurse practitioner Brittany Kasten said the clinic is open to the public – even if they aren’t established with one of Mercy’s primary care providers.
“Since cold and flu season’s coming about, this is going to help a lot of patients be able to be seen quicker without having to go to an E.R. or an urgent care to be seen,” Kasten said.
At the walk-in clinic, people can receive treatment for a range of minor issues, including:
– allergic reactions
– colds and flu
– cuts, scrapes and bites
– earaches and headaches
– minor burns
– sinus infections
– sprains and strains
– stomachaches
– strep, sore throats and tonsillitis
– urinary tract infections
Because the clinic is a part of the primary care team, patients’ copays may cost less than going to an emergency room or urgent care.
The clinic is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday.
