Metropolis to host child abuse prevention event on April 24
METROPOLIS, Ill., (KBSI) — A family fun event will be held on April 24 to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The event, scheduled for 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Superman Statue, 611 Market St., will feature speakers, games and resource tables. Superheroes will also be in attendance.
The event is being organized by Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, the Massac County State’s Attorney Office and other partner organizations through the Southern 7 Child Abuse Prevention Coalition.
April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month, a national campaign that began in 1983. The event aims to promote healthy, happy childhoods and raise awareness about the importance of nurturing, safe homes.
Attendees are encouraged to wear blue in support of the cause.
In case of rain, the event will be held at Metropolis Elementary, 1015 Filmore St.
