Michele Pankow named Illinois’ first female State Fire Marshal

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (KBSI) — The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has named Chief Michele Pankow as Illinois’ first female State Fire Marshal.

Pankow brings 32 years of experience from the Rockford Fire Department, where she rose through the ranks to become chief.

The OSFM says Pankow’s leadership and commitment to public safety make her an ideal fit for the role.
