Mississippi County man may receive stricter punishment for being repeat offender

CHARLESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – On September 6th, 2024, Sterling La’Marr McCain was convicted of felony resisting arrest in Mississippi County.
After a one-day jury trial McCain was convicted by a jury of his peers.
According to Mississippi County Prosecuting Attorney Claire E. Poley, McCain is an avid repeat offender and because of this he is subject to stricter sentencing.
Poley states that she is satisfied with the conviction.
“We are satisfied with the jury’s verdict,” said Poley. “This conviction sends a clear message that resisting arrest and repeat offenses will not be tolerated in our community. I would like to thank the dedicated law enforcement officers, the prosecution team, and the jurors for their hard work and commitment to justice.”
Sterling La’Marr McCain is scheduled to return at a later date for sentencing.
