CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Mississippi Mutts is honoring the search-and-rescue dogs that worked alongside first responders following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The Cape Girardeau business shared a tribute remembering the nearly 3,000 people killed, their families and the first responders who ran toward danger.

The tribute also recognized the rescue dogs that tirelessly searched through the rubble, comforted rescue workers and offered hope in the days following the attacks.

“Today, we remember their bravery, their sacrifice and the unwavering bond between humans and animals,” Mississippi Mutts wrote. “We will never forget.”
