Missouri awards $25 million in community development block grants to 52 projects

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Economic Development has awarded more than $25 million to 52 projects across the state through its Community Development Block Grant Program.
The program aims to support community development initiatives, improve public safety and encourage economic growth. Funded projects include street repairs, stormwater and drainage improvements, demolition of dilapidated structures and construction of new public facilities.
Gov. Mike Kehoe said the grants will promote safety and prosperity for Missourians.
“The purpose of the Community Development Block Grant Program aligns with our administration’s key priorities,” Kehoe said.
The program provides vital support for communities statewide, according to Michelle Hataway, director of the Department of Economic Development. “Projects funded through the CDBG program improve lives while increasing communities’ capacity for future growth,” Hataway said.
