Missouri deer harvest totals 10k during late-season hunt

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Missouri deer hunters harvested 10,071 deer during the alternative methods portion of the firearms deer season, which ran from Dec. 28 to Jan. 7, according to preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The breakdown of harvested deer includes 2,765 antlered bucks, 1,072 button bucks and 6,234 does. Franklin County led the state with 223 deer harvested, followed by Pike County with 209 and Macon County with 207.
This year’s harvest total for the alternative methods portion is down from last year’s total of 12,496. For current and past harvest totals, visit the MDC website.
