Missouri Department of Conservation offers day camps for kids in summer

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Summer is quickly approaching and that has many parents planning on how to keep their kids occupied during those long hot days.

The Missouri Department of Conservation offers some fun day-camps for kids of all ages, even as young as infants.

Staff members at the Nature Center say they have some great ideas planned for all kids when school lets out.

“We do a host of programs,” said Laci Prucinsky with MDC. “We have programs for littles, our Babes in the Woods programs are for zero to two, and then we have Little Acorns that are from three to six. We do day camps during the month of June. They are two-day day camps geared toward 7 to 11 year olds.”

Staff members say some of their adventures could take them as far as the Castor River to go kayaking or canoeing.

The Missouri Department of Conservation also hosts “Grandcamps” at the end of May or beginning June for grandparents and their grandkids to attend.
