Missouri Department of Conservation receives National Deer Association’s 2024 Agency of the Year award

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The National Deer Association (NDA) has named the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) its 2024 Agency of the Year Award winner.
The award recognizes MDC’s innovative and progressive deer management techniques, positive change in regulations, hunter education and recruitment, and stakeholder engagement.
MDC was honored for its Deer Management Assistance Program, targeted removal program to slow chronic wasting disease spread, and collaborative efforts to revise its 10-Year White-tailed Deer Management Plan.
“Driven by science and public input, MDC has a deer management program that benefits deer, habitat and all Missouri residents,” said NDA Senior Director of Conservation Matt Ross.
MDC Cervid Program Supervisor Jason Isabelle said, “We’re thankful for this award and grateful for everyone’s contribution to deer management in Missouri.”
