Missouri deputies subdue armed suspect after brief pursuit, gunfire

PULASKI COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A welfare check turned into a brief pursuit and gunfire incident late Tuesday, with a suspect taken into custody without injury to law enforcement.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 16000 block of Heartland Lane around 10:30 p.m. and made contact with an unclothed male subject armed with a handgun.

The subject fled on foot, discharging multiple rounds indiscriminately, with several striking nearby residences.

Deputies subdued the individual and took him into custody.

The suspect was transported to Phelps County Hospital for medical and mental evaluation.

No deputies or officers were injured.

Residents in the area are advised to inspect their property for potential damage from stray bullets and notify the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at 573-774-6196 if they notice any damage.

The incident is under investigation, with assistance from the St. Robert Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
