JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has filed proposed rules to establish marijuana research facilities in the state.

The Division of Cannabis Regulation submitted the rules, which outline licensing requirements, permitted activities and the application process for marijuana research licenses.

Officials said draft rules were previously posted online to gather feedback from stakeholders before formal submission.

The proposed rules will be published in the May 1 issue of the Missouri Register. Public comments will be accepted from May 1 through May 31.

The department expects to finalize the rules later this summer.
