Missouri gas prices dip 34 cents per gallon ahead of Memorial Day

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Missouri drivers are paying 34 cents less per gallon for regular unleaded fuel compared to this time last year, according to AAA Missouri’s Weekend Gas Watch.

The statewide average price is $2.87 per gallon, one cent higher than last week. Drivers in Columbia are paying the most, at $2.98 per gallon, while those in Joplin are paying the least, at $2.78 per gallon.

The national average price is $3.19 per gallon, flat compared to last week and 42 cents less than this time last year.

Declining crude oil prices and a healthy gasoline supply are contributing to lower year-over-year gas prices, according to AAA.

“Gas prices haven’t been this low over Memorial Day since 2021,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “This will be welcome news for the expected record 39.4 million Americans who will take road trips over the long weekend.”
