Missouri hunters harvest more than 70,000 deer during opening weekend

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Missouri hunters harvested 70,173 deer during the opening weekend of the November firearms season, the Department of Conservation announced Monday.

The top harvest counties were Franklin with 1,761 deer, Howell with 1,269 and Wayne with 1,232.

This year’s opening weekend total surpasses last year’s figure, when hunters checked 68,057 deer.
