MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A Missouri man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle that was listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Graves County more than two years ago.

According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, a county resident listed a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro for sale on Facebook Marketplace in February 2024. Two people met the seller at a local gas station on Feb. 27 after agreeing to purchase the vehicle.

Investigators said one of the suspects presented the seller with a cashier’s check for $29,500 before asking to take the Camaro for a test drive. The suspect never returned with the vehicle, and the second suspect, who had arrived in a Dodge Charger with Texas license plates, also left the scene.

The seller later learned the cashier’s check was fraudulent and reported the incident to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies submitted the forged check for fingerprint analysis, which identified fingerprints belonging to the victim and Joshua N. Robinson, who had previously been arrested in Labette, Kansas. Investigators also said the victim later identified Robinson in a photo lineup.

An arrest warrant was issued for Robinson in April 2024 on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception over $10,000.

The sheriff’s office announced Sunday that Robinson was arrested in St. Louis County, Missouri. Extradition proceedings are underway to return him to Graves County.

The stolen 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has not been recovered, according to investigators.
