Missouri offers new resources to help residents quit tobacco
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has announced new services and resources to help residents quit using commercial tobacco or nicotine products.
Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable deaths in Missouri, which has one of the highest smoking rates in the nation.
Free and confidential telephone and web-based tobacco cessation services are available 24/7 to Missourians ages 13 and older. Additional support is available for pregnant women, individuals with behavioral health conditions and other groups.
Resources can be accessed online or by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669). Healthcare providers and organizations can also refer individuals to the Missouri Tobacco Quit Services program.
