Missouri officials release estimates of uninsured homes, renters after St. Louis tornado
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance has released estimates of potentially uninsured homes and renters in areas affected by the May 16 EF3 tornado in St. Louis.
While exact data on uninsured properties is unavailable, the department combined data from the American Community Survey and its annual zip-code data collection to make rough estimates.
The estimates suggest that in North County zip codes 63115, 63107 and 63113, approximately 90% of renters and 67% of homeowners may be uninsured.
Other areas with significant uninsured rates include the North Riverfront area, Central West End neighborhood and West End/Skinker DeBaliviere and DeBaliviere Place neighborhoods.
The department also announced it will issue a bulletin requesting health insurers cover emergency prescription drug refills, aiding in the effectuation of Governor Mike Kehoe’s Executive Order 25-24.
