Missouri police investigate death of Bernie Police Lieutenant
BERNIE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the death of Bernie Police Lt. Eddie Mays.
Mays, 58, died Thursday evening, June 5, while attempting to take a man into custody in connection with a domestic disturbance call, according to the patrol.
The patrol said Mays may have died from complications from a medical condition, but the official cause of death is pending a complete investigation and autopsy.
Jeremy P. Blagg, 36, of Bernie, was taken into custody and booked into the Stoddard County Jail on a domestic assault charge.
Law enforcement agencies across the region expressed condolences on social media following Mays’ death.
