Missouri PSC urges safety as Ameren crews restore power after storms
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
MISSOURI (KBSI) – The Missouri Public Service Commission is reminding residents to stay safe as Ameren Missouri crews, contractors and mutual aid workers continue restoring power to thousands of customers following recent storms.
Officials urge residents to always assume downed power lines are energized and to avoid standing water, brush, shrubs and fallen trees that could conceal electrical hazards.
Downed power lines should be reported to Ameren Missouri at 800-552-7583.
The Public Service Commission also recommends customers:
Verify their phone number and email address are up to date with Ameren to receive outage updates.
Check restoration progress through Ameren’s website, mobile app or outage alerts.
Report outages using the phone number associated with their Ameren account.
Be alert for scams involving requests for payment to restore electric service.
Stay clear of utility crews and contractors while they make repairs.
The commission encourages Missourians to review storm preparedness resources and utility outage information as restoration efforts continue.
