Missouri Specialty Crop Block Grant Program now accepting applications

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for funding through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program until July 2.

Individuals, community organizations and research institutions working to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in Missouri are eligible to apply. Specialty crops include fruits, vegetables, dried fruit, tree nuts, honey, horticulture and nursery crops, including floriculture ¹.

The grant program aims to expand markets, develop distribution channels, and support education, research, marketing and food safety strategies for specialty crops. Grant awards up to $50,000 are available for specific projects with a two-year grant period. Funded projects will receive reimbursement on a quarterly schedule, with no advance payments made.

Applications will be evaluated, and selected projects will be included in the Missouri State Plan for USDA review and approval. Previously funded projects and application details are available online at Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA).
