Missouri State Highway Patrol in full force for holiday weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – With St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and march madness opening-round games going on through the weekend, driver safety is crucial as many people are looking at a long weekend.

“This year, with St. Patrick’s Day falling on a weekend, it provides a little bit more of a problem for us in the fact that people may make it a long weekend, so we add … Then you mix that in with the big basketball tournament, there’s going to be a lot of opportunities for social activity,” said Sgt. Clark Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The excitement of the holiday mixed with the excitement of March Madness is a once-per-year brand of fun, the Missouri State Highway Patrol doesn’t want people to turn away from.

But they want people to be safe when driving to and from parties.

Added Parrott: “We encourage … that we encourage people to get out and go to their local restaurants have fun with these watch parties but do it mindful. We encourage … That we encourage people to get out and go to their local restaurants, have fun at these watch parties, but do it mindful.”
