Missourians made their way to the polls despite heavy rains

FREDERICKTOWN, MO. (KBSI) – People in Missouri made it to the voting polls despite heavy rains.

Election judge Sharon East said they had no problems with people getting out to the polls in Madison county.

“They’ve been coming out in the rain with their umbrellas. It’s been pouring down all morning to early afternoon,” East said.

Madison county clerk Donald Firebaugh said they’ve had high voter turnout, including new voters and young people.

“When we opened up at 6:00 a.m. there was a line that went all the way around the corner.” Firebaugh said. “It’s been just steady all day.”

Firebaugh said it’s the biggest election he’s handled in eighteen years, and with more issues on the ballot.

“There are a lot of things on it that people are really concerned about. So they wanted to voice their opinion. I don’t blame them,” Firebaugh said.
