MO hunters harvest more than 90,000 deer during firearms opening weekend

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – More than 90,000 deer were harvested during opening weekend of firearms deer season in Missouri.

Data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows 90,334 deer were harvested. Of the harvest 53,159 were antlered bucks, 7,163 button bucks, and 30,012 does.

Top counties were Franklin with 2,114 deer harvested, Texas with 1,825 and Howell with 1,726.

This year’s harvest is similar to the past five-year average, according to MDC. Last year hunters harvested 93,335 during opening weekend.
