Mobile Wellness makes mammograms easier for rural patients
MARBLE HILL, Mo. (KBSI) – Mobile Wellness is making it easier for residents seeking a mammogram in southeast Missouri.
Saint Francis Healthcare System’s 45-foot mobile healthcare coach traveled to Marble Hill on October 2. The coach travels southeast Missouri 45-50 weeks out of the year with a state-of-the-art the 3D Holgic machine used to detect signs of breast cancer.
Megan Ashby, who is nurse manager of Saint Francis’ Breast Care Center, shares the importance of preventative screenings.
“For those women that are, you know, of the age, you should be scheduling those yearly mammograms and October is the perfect month if you haven’t already got yours scheduled,” said Ashby.
The mobile unit will visit Dexter, Farmington, Piedmont, Jackson, as well as many other towns within southeast Missouri.
Dana Moore, family nurse practitioner, highlights the importance of Mobile Wellness stopping through the community of Marble Hill.
“It gives patients the opportunity, who don’t have good transportation to wellness facilities like Cape, to get them right here on site,” said Moore.
Time and location of operation for Mobile Wellness is available on Saint Francis Medical Center’s website at sfmc.net/mobilewellness.
