MOCAN encourages students to fill out FAFSA forms

Mocan Encourages Fafsa Applications

(KBSI) – The Missouri College and Career Attainment Network (MOCAN) encourage students to fill out financial aid forms for the 2024-2025 academic year.

With February being Financial Aid Awareness Month, students are reminded that resources are available to those seeking higher education.

Kaitlyn Venta, Director of Affordability for MOCAN says, “We want students and families to know that there is a lot of funding available, they just have to fill out some forms, out in some work to be able to get the money that they need for college.”

Which is a form used to determine eligibility for the federal pell grant, the access Missouri grant, or for need-based financial aid at schools. The form will then gather  demographic information and family financial status.

She says, “We at MOCAN developed mofafsa.org, as a central website where students, families, advisors can go to get tips, tricks, and resources for completing the FAFSA.”

For individuals who struggle with filling out the forms, there are a number of physical resources available to lend a hand such as a college advisor or counselor.

“College presents students with so many opportunities that they may never get in another way, and so we really believe that it’s so important for students to go to prepare themselves to be a great citizen. Whatever that looks like in their work, in their family life, and in their community.” Said Venta

Each year, over 13 million students who file the FAFSA get more than $120 billion in grants, work study, and student loans from the U.S. Department of Education.

The FAFSA is available now and students are encouraged to fill it out as soon as they can at fafsa.gov.
