MOCAN reminds students of upcoming FAFSA deadline

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri College and Career Attainment Network (MOCAN) is reminding students and parents that the priority deadline to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 Access Missouri Grant Program is Feb. 3.

To assist with the application process, MOCAN will offer free expert help on Jan. 25 at locations across the state, including Southeast Missouri State University’s Dempster Hall.

“The FAFSA is the key to financial aid for college,” said Kaitlyn Venta, MOCAN’s director of affordability. “Students can gain access to federal, state and private scholarship opportunities.”

According to MOCAN, affordability is the biggest challenge students face when considering college, and completing the FAFSA is essential for maximizing financial aid awards. In 2024, Missouri students left $78.8 million in unclaimed Pell Grants.
