MoDOT bracing for another winter storm

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The storm is a brewin’!

With another winter storm system on track to rip through the Midwest again – most notably southeast Missouri – the Missouri Department of Transportation cautions to plan ahead if you have to leave your residence Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning.

“It is going to hit overnight,” said Craig Compas, district traffic engineer for MoDOT. ” We are expecting it to come in two waves: one at midnight and another one hitting at about six o’clock in the morning. For some reason, if they need to get out, they can go to MODOT.org and look at the travel information map and see the road conditions.”

With the temperature dropping Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Compas urges drivers to make sure they have addressed the following:

First, make sure your vehicle’s gas tank has been filled.

Secondly, charge up your cell phone at home, or make sure you have a charger in your vehicle.

Thirdly, take plenty of clothes with you prior to hitting the road.

And finally, stay clear of all trucks as they begin prepping the roads.
