MoDOT crews to restripe Interstates 55, 57 for improved visibility

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI, (KBSI) – Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution as MoDOT contractor crews re-stripe Interstates 55 and 57 to enhance visibility.

Weather permitting, the restriping schedule is as follows:

— Interstate 57: Aug. 25-26, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
— Interstate 55: Aug. 27-Sept. 13, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching striping equipment and crew workers. To ensure safety, follow these guidelines:

— On multi-lane highways, slow down and merge carefully into the open lane to avoid paint and damage to newly painted stripes.
— On two-lane highways, stay behind the last truck in the striping train to allow paint to dry. MoDOT crews will periodically pull over to allow traffic to clear.
— If you drive through wet paint, clean your vehicle as soon as possible with a high-powered water hose.
