MoDOT to host public meeting on U.S. 61 and Route 80 intersection project near Matthews

MATTHEWS, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a public meeting Tuesday to discuss proposed safety improvements at the intersection of U.S. Route 61 and Route 80 near Matthews.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Matthews Nutrition Center, located at 301 W. Main St.

During the meeting, MoDOT officials will present two proposed alternatives for the project: installing traffic signals or constructing a roundabout.

Meeting materials and additional information are available on the project website at U.S. 61 and MO Route 80 Intersection Improvements at Matthews, MO | Missouri Department of Transportation. The site includes a video simulation of each alternative, meeting handouts and exhibits, along with an opportunity for the public to submit comments.

Public comments will be accepted through Feb. 24, 2026.
