More than 200 compete in City of Roses Half Marathon & 5K
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – More than 100 runners laced up their shoes and ran the City of Roses Half Marathon & 5K on September 16 and 17.
- Chris Herren, 40, won overall winner age 40 with a time of 1 hour 18 minutes and 17 seconds.
- Emilee Hargis, 32, won overall female winner with a time of 1 hour 35 minutes and 42 seconds.
The half marathon course started and ended at the Osage Centre. It took runners along a paved trail through residential Cape Girardeau and out into the county. The course wound around, up and down paved roads, past horse farms, tree-filled woods and homes. You will loop back to the Osage Center to find a cheering crowd and lots of good food, water, Gatorade and locally brewed beer. This race is in its 43rd year, and we couldn’t be happier to boast that we even ran the year of “C”. Water stops are available every 2 miles in the beginning, then every mile from mile 8 on.
The City of Roses 5K was Saturday. It is a flat, fast USATF Certified Course on a paved trail.
