More than 500 attend National Night Out in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — More than 500 people gathered at Arena Park this week as the Cape Girardeau Police Department celebrated National Night Out 2026.

The annual event brought together community members and first responders for an evening of food, games, activities and fireworks while giving residents the opportunity to meet local law enforcement officers.

Police said National Night Out is designed to strengthen relationships between the community and first responders, emphasizing that public safety is strongest when residents and law enforcement work together.

The department also thanked volunteers, community partners, sponsors, vendors and attendees for helping make the event a success and said it is already looking forward to National Night Out 2027.
