CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — More than 600 people attended the second annual Thriving Together Conference on Thursday at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

The event provided practical tools, educational opportunities and strategies related to mental and behavioral health. Attendees participated in breakout sessions, heard from guest speakers and learned about resources available in the community.

“The whole goal for this conference is connecting — just connecting with others and learning about resources in the community,” said Wendy Ice, CEO of the Community Counseling Center. “The biggest thing is walking out feeling inspired and feeling like tomorrow can be better than today.”

Ice said next year’s conference has already been scheduled and will feature Elizabeth Smart as a guest speaker.
