More than a dozen agencies conduct new search for Illinois woman

CLARMIN, Ill. (KBSI) – Where is Brittany Moeser? That is the question that has more than a dozen agencies out searching this week along the Major Case Squad.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department has reopened the missing persons case after 15 months. Brittany Moeser, who would now be 37 years old, has not been found. The sheriff says they have interviewed more than 40 people and still have no leads.

Washington County Sheriff Ross Schultze says Moeser left a note for her parents that she was going on a walk from their home in Clarmin, on April 13, 2024, and has not been seen or heard from since. Her phone went dead a couple days later making it impossible to track.

Now Schultze is asking for the public’s help.

For the family’s sake just please reach out to us and let’s try to get this case solved and so the family can have some closure” says Schultze.  “It’s still not going to be easy if she is deceased, but you know that’s somebody’s daughter.”

“We’ve done multiple searches on foot with SAR canine, St. Claire County canine, search and rescue and even Eureka for search and rescue, state police flew their plane over the area two or three times, we’ve flown drones, interviewed several people and we just kept getting second and third hand information” says Schultze.

When their search came up empty Moeser’s mom reached out to the Major Case Squad who has been in the area this week along with 17 other city and county agencies, hoping to find a sign of Moeser.

“They’ve been working two-man teams all week, they interviewed 40 individuals and even new individuals whose names came up and currently they’re down near Clarmin, and out near Lenzburg around the strip pits searching those areas as well” says Schultze.

Schultze says they do not have any proof that Moeser is diseased, but they don’t have proof she is not. He is asking the public to report any tips or sightings you have, no matter how big or small to their tip line. Moeser’s mother has issued a $5000 reward for anyone who has the information that leads to finding her.

“Somebody knows something, we just need that person with the key part of the puzzle to reach out to us” says Schultze. “Ya know if tips keep coming in we’ll keep following up on it. We’re not going to stop. Well keep working it as long as we have too.”

Brittany Moeser was last seen in Clarmin, Illinois, she is now 37 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 128 pounds, with light red hair.
