Mother and daughter share special connection at prom and wedding consignment sale

COLUMBUS, Ky. (KBSI) – Each year, Christina Cunningham and her mother, Jeanne Grief, host a prom and wedding consignment sale at Cunningham’s wedding venue, The Belmont, and the two embrace this chance to work together doing something they both love.
“We both like the bling-bling, and the lace, and all the colors, and I know she loves it,” Cunningham said.
“I have four daughters and they’re all different, and you try to share something with each one of them wherever they are,” Grief said. “This takes me back to my younger days, too.”
Her younger days because Grief worked in formal and bridal wear for decades, doing repairs, alterations and design work, before she retired.
“I still enjoy playing with it and coming down here, seeing the girls and helping them with their issues and make them look the best they can for their big day,” Grief said.
A big day that often only happens once, and thus, the dress gets hung up in the closet, never to be worn again, so Cunningham said consignment is a great way to get some of that investment back.
“There are places to go to buy brand new, but you have people who purchase a brand-new dress, and those people purchase them brand-new to consign them because they’ll get some of that investment back so that they can, in turn, purchase a new gown again next year,” she said.
