Motorcycle driver dies after crash in Marion, KY

MARION, Ky. (KBSI) – A motorcycle driver died after he was injured in a crash Tuesday in Marion, Ky.
Kentucky State Police Post 2 responded to a single vehicle motorcycle crash at the intersection of North Main Street and East Mound Park Avenue in Marion around 6:46 p.m. on October 17.
A preliminary investigation revealed that William R. Keene, 49, of Sturgis was driving a 1989 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on West Mound Park Avenue.
Keene accelerated the motorcycle from a stop sign at the intersection of West Mound Park Avenue and North Main Street, crossed North Main Street, and tried to drive onto East Mound Park Avenue. For unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a wooden telephone pole, according to KSP.
Keene was taken to the Crittenden County Community Hospital where he died.
A passenger, Jamie Whitworth, of Marion, Ky. was not injured in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
