Motorcyclist dies after crash in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Kuttawa man died after a crash involving his motorcycle and a vehicle on May 21.

McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Kentucky Dam Road (US 62) and Eagles Nest Drive at 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 for a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash.

Sheriff’s deputies say Gordon Smith, 63, of Kuttawa was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Kentucky Dam Road.

Benny Green, 70, of Paducah was driving a 2012 Buick Enclave crossing over Kentucky Dam Road from Eagles Nest Drive.

The motorcycle collided broadside with the Buick in the eastbound lanes of Kentucky Dam Road, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Smith was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Green was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Mercy Regional Ambulance, McCracken County DES, McCracken County Coroner’s Office and Harper’s Towing assisted McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
