GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday after authorities said he swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle on Kentucky 384.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. near Ballard Road.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said Michael Niemeyer, 52, of Dublin, was traveling south on a 1998 Harley-Davidson when he encountered a northbound vehicle partially in his lane.

Niemeyer avoided the vehicle but ran off the shoulder, entered a ditch and struck a culvert before the motorcycle came to rest.

He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Mayfield-Graves County EMS and the Mayfield-Graves County Fire and Rescue Squad assisted deputies at the scene.
