Motorcyclist injured after hitting deer in Graves County

MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) – A Murray man was injured Tuesday morning after his motorcycle struck a deer on Kentucky Highway 121 South in Graves County, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 11:24 a.m. June 30 after Kentucky State Police dispatch received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle injury crash about one mile south of Farmington.
Investigators said 43-year-old Joshua A. Markwell, of Murray, was traveling south on KY 121 on a 1999 Honda motorcycle when a deer entered the roadway. Markwell struck the deer, causing the motorcycle to leave the right side of the road and enter a ditch.
Markwell was taken by Mayfield-Graves County EMS to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released later that afternoon.
Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince investigated the crash with assistance from Deputy Chad Hall, Mayfield-Graves County EMS and the Mayfield-Graves County Fire and Rescue Squad.
