Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash on Broadway in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon on Broadway, according to Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Officers responded at about 1:26 p.m. to the 1800 block of Broadway for a reported injury crash involving a motorcycle and a truck. Police said a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling westbound in the inner lane while a 2017 Ford F-350 utility truck was traveling westbound in the outer lane.

A preliminary investigation found the motorcycle attempted to pass another vehicle, fell onto its side and slid into the truck. The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center, where he later died. Police said the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist was identified as Glenn Keesee, 23, of Scott City, Missouri. The truck driver, Owen Todd, 25, of Chaffee, Missouri, was not injured.

The department’s crash reconstruction team continues to investigate the incident.
