MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — City officials have lifted three boil water orders affecting multiple areas of Mount Vernon.
The orders were lifted effective at noon on Feb. 11.
The affected areas included the 400 and 500 blocks of South 34th Street, #1 and #4 Doctors Park, the 1600 block of Isabella Street, 1701 Oakland Ave., 1407 McPherson Ave., the 600 and 700 blocks of Kensington and all of Crownview Drive near 34th Street.
The precautionary boil orders were issued following maintenance on the water distribution system. Officials said changes in water pressure can disturb sediment in water mains, though no confirmed contamination was reported.
Residents in the affected areas had been advised to boil water until testing was completed and the orders were lifted.
For more information, residents may contact water operator Anita Flota at 618-242-6851 or visit the city’s website for updates on boil water orders.
