Mount Vernon man facing armed robbery, meth charges

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mount Vernon man faces armed robbery and drug charges after police were called to a report of an armed robbery on February 7.
Ashton Harper, 29, of Mt. Vernon faces charges of armed robbery and possession with intent to deliver 15-100g of methamphetamine.
There was a report of an armed robbery in the area of Rose Lane in the early morning hours of February 7.
Police say the victim was known to Harper and was targeted in the robbery.
Mt. Vernon Police Department general criminal detectives investigated the robbery and obtained an arrest warrant for Harper.
On February 14, the Mt. Vernon Police Department general criminal detectives, narcotics detectives, and patrol found Harper and arrested him.
He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
Harper was on mandatory supervised release (parole) with the Illinois Department of Corrections during this time.
