Mount Vernon man sentenced to 20 years in prison in armed violence case

MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — UPDATE: Michael Glenn Jr. pleaded guilty Jan. 23 to charges of armed habitual offender and armed violence in Jefferson County Court.

As part of the plea agreement, other pending charges against Glenn were dismissed.

Judge Jerry Crisel accepted the plea and sentenced Glenn to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 48-year-old man on multiple charges, including armed violence, after responding to a call about an alleged order of protection violation.

Michael D. Glenn, of Mt. Vernon, was taken into custody Saturday, Dec. 28, at 6:20 p.m. in the 21000 block of N. Tolle Ln in Texico.

Deputies found evidence of other criminal activity on Glenn’s person, leading to additional charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of meth under 5 grams and violating an order of protection.

Glenn was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was held until his pretrial detention hearing.

He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
