MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) — The City of Mount Vernon will hold a public hearing Wednesday morning as it seeks a Housing Rehabilitation Grant through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at City Hall.
City officials said at least 10 owner-occupied, income-eligible households are needed to attend. Representatives from Crosswalk Community Action Agency will be on hand to explain grant guidelines and program standards.
Residents who cannot attend the hearing may complete an income survey, which is available at the City Hall water department. Officials said the surveys will be used as part of the city’s grant application and are not grant applications themselves.
The city is encouraging all interested households to attend the hearing or complete an income survey to support the grant application.
