Mt. Vernon man arrested in connection with Waltonville arson investigation

MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — Authorities say a 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a residential fire in Waltonville.

Jory L. Brown, of Mt. Vernon, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with arson and criminal damage to state-supported property.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a June 13 fire at a residence owned by the Housing Authority of Jefferson County.

Brown is being held at the Justice Center awaiting a pretrial detention hearing.
