Mt. Vernon Police Department welcomes three new officers

MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — The Mt. Vernon Police Department swore in three new officers Monday, all of whom have military service backgrounds.

James McElroy, Jaide Jones and Nathan Launay will undergo 16 weeks of training at the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy in Belleville, Illinois.

Following academy training, they will complete 14 weeks of field training with a veteran Mt. Vernon police officer.
