Murray, KY man charged with murder in Dec. 2020 shooting
MURRAY, Ky. (KBSI) – A grand jury issued an indictment for an arrest on murder charges stemming from a shooting death in December 2020.
Benjamin S. Jones, 40, of Murray, Ky. was arrested and charged with murder on Sept. 2.
The shooting death investigation was presented to the Calloway County Grand Jury on Aug. 27. The grand jury issued an indictment for murder.
This all stems from a shooting that happened Dec. 21, 2020. Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 2800 block of Cook Store Trail for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found Luis A. Mancilla, 53, outside the home with an apparent gunshot wound. Mancilla was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into Mancilla’ death. On Friday, August 27, that investigation was presented to the Calloway County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury issued an indictment for murder in regards to Mancilla’s death.
Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jones on Sept. 2 at 10 p.m. He was taken to the Calloway County Jail.
