Murray man arrested after sheriff’s deputies say he shot cell phone

(KBSI) – A Murray man faces several charges after sheriff’s deputies were called to a home for a disturbance.
Michael D. Gurnitz, 25, of Murray faces charges of assault 4th degree-domestic violence, (no visible injury), three counts of menacing, wanton endangerment 1st deg (Class D felony) and unlawful imprisonment 1st degree (Class D felony).
Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Morris Road in reference to a disturbance around 8 p.m. on Friday, November 3.
The caller told dispatch that he had just intentionally shot his firearm into the victim’s cell phone and would not the person them leave the bedroom.
The investigation revealed that the altercation had gotten physical and that the suspect had fired at the phone very near the victim.
Gurnitz was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
