Murray man facing burglary, stalking charges

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Murray man faces burglary and stalking charges after woman reported he entered her home without permission at night.

Derek A. Brashears, 36, of Murray faces charges of burglary 2nd degree (Class C felony), criminal mischief 2nd degree and stalking 2nd degree.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Derek A. Brashears at his home on March 27 just after midnight after a Calloway County arrest warrant had been issued the previous day.

The victim of the previous day’s incident told authorities that Brashears, whom she knew, had entered her home without permission in the night. She woke. They went outside and a verbal argument began.

The victim told deputies Brashears then broke her cell phone and left before deputies arrived.

Attempts were made to contact Brashears but were unsuccessful, so a warrant was issued.

He was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
