Murray man facing numerous drug charges after lengthy drug investigation

MURRAY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Murray man faces several drug charges after a Calloway County Sheriff’s detectives conducted a lengthy drug investigation.

Monty L. Thompson, 54, of Murray faces three counts of trafficking methamphetamine 2nd offense (Class B felony), cultivate in marijuana (5 plants or more) 1st offense (Class D felony), trafficking marijuana 2nd offense (Class D felony), possession of LSD (Class D felony), possession of methamphetamine 3rd offense (Class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thompson was arrested early Wednesday, March 13 on drug trafficking charges following a lengthy drug investigation.

Over the last year, detectives with the Narcotics Division received numerous complaints of illegal drug trafficking from the home of 216 Offshore Drive in Murray.

Detectives identified Thompson of Calloway County to be the source of supply for large amounts of methamphetamine. They made a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Thompson seizing more than 14.0 grams, according to deputies.

Through this investigation, multiple search warrants were executed at an address on Offshore Dive. That led to the seizure of approximately a half-pound of methamphetamine (219.0 grams), a large illegal marijuana grow operation consisting of approximately 30 plants, a large quantity of marijuana, LSD, $6,674 in cash believed to be proceeds of drug trafficking, digital weight scales, baggies and numerous other drug-related items.

Records indicate that Thompson has an extensive and violent criminal history involving numerous convictions for trafficking and manufacturing methamphetamine dating back to 1999.

Thompson was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
