Murray State University President announces retirement

Murray, Ky. (KBSI) – Murray State University President Dr. Bob Jackson has announced his retirement.

Dr. Jackson has served as president since August 7, 2018, and has held other vital roles within the University including president of the Murray State University Foundation, Inc.

Jackson has brought growth and success in advancing Murray State University and higher education in the area.

“Serving as President of my Alma Mater has been a lifetime honor and the capstone to my professional career. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. But everything and everyone has a season, and Karen and I are looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, traveling, and enjoying our next chapter of life.”

Both the President and his Wife are Murray State University Alumni.

Under Jacksons leadership the University was recently named the #1 Best Value School in the South by U.S. News and World Report.

His retirement will be effective June 30, 2025.
