Murray woman facing drug charges after sheriff’s deputies find her locked in outbuilding

MURRAY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Murray woman faces drug charges after Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Murray for an altercation.

Pelma Davenport, 71, faces charges of possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, possesion of drug paraphernalia and escape 3rd degree.

On July 13, 2023 around 8:30 p.m. Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Hwy 94E in Murray for an altercation.

The altercation was not physical but suspected drugs were found.

The parties involved were detained and a search warrant was obtained.

Sheriff’s deputies say Davenport ran from deputies and locked herself in an outbuilding. They forced entry and found her to be in possession of methamphetamine trying to conceal items, according to the sheriff’s office.

Davenport was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
